New Tech Centre for Rowville Primary School

Liberal Nationals to spend on STEM centre at Rowville Primary School

A Liberal Nationals Government will provide a $250,000 upgrade for Rowville Primary School to establish a STEM Learning Centre to regenerate learning at the school.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) is a vital part of the school curriculum for this generation of students.

Daniel Andrews has lost control of population growth and our local schools are falling behind with a lack of much needed education facilities.

The Liberal Nationals have a plan to address the pressures caused by unchecked population growth and get ahead of school infrastructure needs, by upgrading the facilities at Rowville Primary School. New classroom fit-outs, technology upgrades and other facilities will enable teachers to open up new areas of the STEM curriculum to students.

Rowville Primary currently runs a weekly STEM program for students from year 3 to year 6, where all the students create a digital portfolio to display their work. In 2018, Rowville started a partnership with Young Engineers to foster the connections and skills students need to excel in STEM.

With 440 students enrolled at Rowville Primary, the grant will provide modern, updated technology and facilities to a large number of students who can fully explore their interest in STEM subjects at school.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Tim Smith:

“Rowville Primary School is an outstanding local primary school. Students wanting to spend more time learning STEM subjects need to be supported with the best possible learning environments and with access to the technology they are learning about. A facilities upgrade will support teachers in delivering STEM subjects, knowing they have the necessary resources to help their students excel.

The Liberal Nationals are committed to providing new STEM facilities at Rowville Primary School and giving local students every chance they need to pursue a quality education.”

Comments attributable to Member for Rowville, Kim Wells:

“Parents in the Knox community are keen to see their children have the best education possible and they should be able to send their children to a quality school in their local area.

The Andrews Labor Government has ignored schools in the Rowville electorate for four long years. This funding commitment means that students will now be able to enjoy the facilities they deserve.

Rowville Primary School have been seeking extra funding for new technology facilities since 2010, and Labor did not match my 2014 commitment to deliver this. I am very glad that the Liberal Nationals are now able to support the school to ensure this funding is provided.”

$5 million upgrade for Scoresby Secondary College

Liberal Nationals to upgrade Scoresby Secondary College

A Liberal Nationals Government will commit $5 million to upgrade facilities at Scoresby Secondary College.

With more than 230 students and families at Scoresby and an overwhelming growth in Year 7 enrolments, there is a huge demand for better educational facilities in Knox.

This $5 million upgrade will dramatically improve classrooms and other educational buildings at Scoresby Secondary College.

For far too long, Knox schools have been overlooked by the Labor Government, leaving schools like Scoresby with poorly maintained buildings that are in desperate need of upgrades.

Parents want to send their children to decent, safe, well-maintained schools, and students deserve to be able to go to a local school nearby, without compromising their educational choices.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Tim Smith:

“Scoresby Secondary College has achieved some outstanding academic results and have a strong and supportive school culture.

The Liberal Nationals are committed to redeveloping Scoresby Secondary College and give local students every chance they need to pursue a quality education.”

Scoresby CFA scores new $2.5 million Station

Scoresby CFA scores $2.5 million station upgrade

State Member for Rowville, Kim Wells and Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Brad Battin today announced that an elected Liberal Nationals Government will fund a new $2.5 million CFA station in Scoresby.

The Liberal Nationals will join with the Scoresby CFA to jointly fund the construction of a new CFA station at the current site on Sara Road, Scoresby, contributing $1.5 million towards the build.

The Scoresby CFA will contribute $1 million from existing assets and community fundraising efforts, reflecting the dedicated commitment of the volunteer brigade of 60 members which attends around 600 callouts each year.

The new larger station is designed to suit larger urban areas, such as Scoresby, which services call-outs to local residential areas, large commercial and industrial areas, parklands, Eastlink and Knox Council facilities. The new station will have the capacity to accommodate a pumper, tanker, hoselayer and a 4WD vehicle with 3-4 drive through motor bays.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Brad Battin:

“The Liberal Nationals rebuilt or upgraded more than 250 CFA stations when last in government and we are committed to continuing our strong tradition of supporting the CFA.

These new facilities will improve the health and safety for all volunteers so they can continue to keep not only Rowville, but all Victorians safe.

The Liberal Nationals are building a safer Victoria by ensuring Scoresby is better protected from the threat of fires and other emergencies than ever before.”

Comments attributable to Member for Rowville, Kim Wells:

“It is vital that the Scoresby community has the resources it needs to fight fires and protect our communities when we need help the most and this new facility will provide that.

This investment will provide our hardworking firefighters with the necessary equipment and facilities to accommodate firefighting vehicles and train firefighting crews. This will be an enormous benefit to Scoresby, the City of Knox and the surrounding communities for years to come.

Only a Matthew Guy led Liberal Nationals Government will fund this important infrastructure project, which will strengthen Knox’s emergency services.”
