Member for Scoresby, Kim Wells MP has announced a re-elected Coalition Government will commit $100,000 towards an upgrade of club rooms at Lakesfield Reserve, Lysterfield. The upgrade will significantly improve the facilities for the Lysterfield Junior Football and Lysterfield Cricket Clubs.
Mr Wells announced the $100,000 commitment to fund an upgrade of the existing club room facilities at Lakesfield Reserve, if the Victorian Coalition Government is re-elected.
“Lysterfield Junior Football Club and Lysterfield Cricket Club, in conjunction with the Victorian Coalition Government and Knox Council, have invested a great deal in improving the facilities at Lakesfield Reserve. Over the last few years, this investment has helped the Clubs to provide a new storage shed, install a new scoreboard, and fund a drainage & irrigation upgrade and warm-season grass resurfacing for the oval,” Mr Wells said.
“The Victorian Coalition Government has now also provided a further $100,000 in funding towards a $250,000 project to install training lights at Lakesfield Reserve.
“This upgrade will bring the club room facilities up to date with recent improvements on the ground.
“Lysterfield Juniors and Lysterfield Cricket Clubs are active, community-focused sports clubs who have worked incredibly hard on behalf of their players to improve the facilities and grow their clubs.
“With a growing number of players joining the club, there is a huge demand from players and families, officials and spectators for adequate clubroom facilities. Improving the clubrooms is fundamental to transforming Lakesfield Reserve into a more modern and suitable sports facility for the clubs.
”This election commitment upgrade will ensure that the clubs rooms at the Lakesfield Reserve can be enjoyed by the Lysterfield community for many years to come.
”Sport and recreation play a vital role in the Knox community. As a local MP, I am very pleased to make this election commitment to help local clubs develop better recreation facilities and provide more opportunities for local residents to play and enjoy sport.
“I would also like to thank the State Member for Ferntree Gully, Nick Wakeling, Federal Member for Aston, Alan Tudge and Knox Council who worked closely with the clubs to secure funding for the earlier projects at Lakesfield Reserve.
“The Napthine Coalition government has demonstrated that it is committed to working with local councils, clubs and communities to develop good quality local facilities that bring more people together through sport,” Mr Wells said.
